New family center opens in Assiniboine Park

The new Qualico Family Centre, located at the edge of the Duck Pond in the heart of Assiniboine Park is open. This is the first indoor facility to be added to the Park since the addition to the existing Conservatory was built in the late 1960s.

Nestled in the trees and skirting the Duck Pond, the nearly 10,000-square-foot Qualico Family Centre will be a central hub of activity at Assiniboine Park. The Centre is home to the new park café, the perfect year-round gathering place for Park visitors and offers family-friendly breakfast and lunch menus that are both interesting and affordable. Open daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., the park café offers both a dine-in and take-out menu.

The building will also house a wide range of events and activities, including Park educational programs for children, wedding receptions, corporate retreats and other celebrations. The banquet and park café menus were created by the Assiniboine Park Conservancy’s new Executive Chef Heiko Duehrsen, formerly of The Gates on Roblin.
