Looks like our first weekend in December is going to be a good one! The forecast is almost balmy for Manitoba, so we’ve added a bunch of fun activities you can do outside to our weekly list. And of course we didn’t forget the inside stuff too! If you aren’t already planning to trim the tree at the WAG, discover winter in the Parkland, drive through a Winter Wonderland or watch a tragedy unfold at the opera, here are some more fun things to do:

Snow tubing

Open daily | Adrenaline Adventures, Headingly
Put on the ski pants and get ready to tackle the Snow tubing hills at Adrenaline Adventures!  They have several lanes open for tubing featuring a variety of bumps and lots of speed. And for the extreme thrill seekers, there’s new tubing lanes that will have you yelling in delight all the way down.

Touch of Christmas/The Living Nativity

Nov 30 to Dec 2 | Mennonite Heritage Village, Steinbach
Experience an outdoor living nativity play with live animals and choir of angels at Touch of Christmas in the Mennonite Heritage Village! There will also be Christmas caroling, sleigh rides, marshmallow roasts and bake sales.

GPS Adventure

Dec 1 | Betula Lake, Whiteshell Provincial Park
Make a family discovery on this high-tech scavenger hunt! The park will provide GPS devices to lead you through the forest as you uncover hidden park treasures. You can even win prizes! After your adventure, warm-up with free hot chocolate and s’mores. Remember to dress warm. Winter Survival Program

Dec 1 | Spruce Woods Provincial Park
What would you do if you were stranded outdoors in the bitter cold? Join the Winter Survival Program at the Spruce Woods Interpretive Centre and find out! Learn to build a protective shelter in the form of a quinzhee, start an emergency fire, and discover how to prepare for the worst case scenario. This FREE event runs from 1 to 4 p.m. For more information, email swterp@mymts.net.

Father Christmas In The Forest

Dec 2 | FortWhyte Alive
Father Christmas is in the FortWhyte forest and is ready to hear all your holiday wishes! Bring your camera and a holiday elf will take your photos with Santa. Stay warm by the fire and enjoy holiday carols while you wait. This event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and costs $7 (or$5 for members).
