Ho ho hold your horses! We know holiday parties are in full swing and the malls are bursting at the seams, but that doesn’t mean there’s not a lot of other good stuff going on this weekend. If you aren’t already planning to watch the world’s best ads at the WAG, check out the Crèche Festival in St. Georges, drive through a Winter Wonderland or book your northern lights tour, here are some more fun things to do:
Noël c’est l’amour Sing-a-long
Dec 7 | St. Boniface Cathedral
You’re invited to drop by the cathedral and enjoy the beautiful sounds of their multilingual Christmas concert. Starting at 7:30 p.m., this FREE sing-a-long will feature Fred Penner, Les blés aux vent, Guy Bouliane, Sofia Bilozor, Clear Vox, David Vamos and Rebecca Chartrand to name a few. Winter Wonderland
Dec 7 to 8 | Manitoba Agricultural Museum, Austin
Enjoy a magical walk or horse-drawn wagon ride through the beautiful pioneer village filled with glistening holiday lights at the museum! Children will have the chance to make holiday ornaments and holiday cards while waiting to see Santa. Plus, an outdoor skating rink, snow slide, snow hill, and jam pail curling will provide hours of fun for the entire family.
Wheat Kings games
Dec 7 & 8 | Keystone Centre, Brandon
Fingers crossed that the NHL is back on the ice soon, but until then, why not road trip it to Brandon to catch the Wheat Kings take on Spokane (Fri) or Red Deer (Sat)? Find your tickets through the Keystone Centre or by calling 204.726.3555.
Canadian Power Toboggan Championship season opener
Dec 8 to 9 | CPTC Race Complex, Beausejour
Hold onto your toques, the power toboggan race season begins this weekend! This event is an exciting debut to the 2012-2013 race season that attracts racers from all over North America as they come together in Beausejour to battle it out on the world’s fastest and safest track. Admission is $15 (FREE for children 12 years and under).
Disney’s Phineas and Ferb: The Best Live Tour Ever!

Musical madness abounds as Phineas, Ferb, Candace, Isabella, Baljeet, Buford and friends hit the stage to make the most of the last day of summer by building an invention bigger, better and more amazing than ever. Tickets are still available through Ticketmaster.
Shopping, shopping, shopping!

This week on our Facebook page, we asked “Where’s the best place to find unique Manitoba-made gifts?” and you gave us a huge list of great places to shop this holiday season. The resounding winner was The Forks, of course, but honourable mentions go to Constance Popp, Sew Dandee and Ukrainian Festival boutique in Dauphin.
