Occupy and celebrate winter in Riding Mountain National Park

Occupy Winter is a weekend of Canadian participaction and enjoyment of our national parks in the winter months. In conjunction with World Snow Day, you’re invited to plan a day outing or more to walk, hike, snowshoe, build a quinzhee, ski, or take part in a celebration of winter in Riding Mountain National Park.

Occupy Winter events
Jan 19 | 12 p.m. | Moon Lake day use area
Enjoy quinzee building, snowshoe hike, wilderness ski, free hot chocolate, heated shelter.
Jan 19 | 7 p.m. | Wasagaming picnic shelter (behind Park Visitor Centre) 7 p.m.
Enjoy a potluck supper, the release of a new song, Occupy Winter, by Kayla Luky and a night snowshoe and night sky viewing to celebrate the dark skies of Canada.
Jan 20 | All day | Agassiz Park Lodge
Meet at 10 a.m. to enjoy a snowshoe expedition in the park. For more information, see The Parkland Snowshoeing Club’s Facebook page.
World Snow Day events
Jan 20 | 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. | Friends Learning Centre, Wasagaming
Enjoy winter kiting, Snow Day scavenger hunt, hot dog fundraiser and the Riding Mountain Jackrabbit Ski Fest.
