Revel in our roots at the winter fair
Monday, March 25th, 2013
Celebrate the fun of farm country at the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair – one of Western Canada’s largest agricultural events! Drawing nearly 120,000 attendees each year, the fair serves as a celebration of the province’s rural roots.
Visit the Royal Farm Yard to get your hands dirty in the Ag-tivity Zone, scope the competition worthy cows in Cattle Country, or pick up new tricks at the sheep shearing and Super Dogs demonstrations. Later, be sure to venture Thru the Farm Gate, where you can learn more about sustainable farming strategies, check out a car powered by grain seeds, or score some face time with cuddly critters at the Royal Petting Zoo.
For fleet-footed thrills, you can’t go wrong with the fair’s world-class equine events, where you can marvel at the power and agility of heavy horses, the precision and grace of show jumpers, or the speed and athleticism of the barrel races. And as always, there’s an ace lineup of family-friendly entertainment on tap, including a hypnotist, a contortionist, a clown and a rockabilly band, plus Mallory Lewis (daughter of famed puppeteer Shari Lewis) and Lamb Chop.
This year’s trade show promises more than 300 exhibitors and concession kiosks — showcasing everything from farm equipment to maple fudge; mini-donuts to mentored hunting trips.
