This fall, watch the Royal Winnipeg Ballet push the envelope with their bold adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s dystopian novel The Handmaid’s Tale!
Adapted by acclaimed New York choreographer Lila York, this new ballet preserves Atwood’s prophetic spirit and human story, creating a powerful and poignant interpretation of the gripping tale about a dismal future America where women are reproductive slaves. Deftly attuned to highlighting the narrative’s dark romanticism, forbidden desires, and domineering regime, York’s dance drama will transport you, with thrilling effect, to a society where human rights have been stripped away.
Margaret Atwood will be in attendance for a special pre-show chat on opening night (October 16, 2013 at 6:45 p.m.). A special screening of this pre-show chat will take place in the lobby at all remaining performances.
