Human Rights Nights? Extended hours at CMHR on Wednesdays

Starting in May, the Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) will be open until 9 p.m. on Wednesdays. If you haven’t found the time to see the Museum yet, a Wednesday evening visit may be just the thing to fit your schedule.

Plus all summer long, from July through to the September long weekend (including Labour Day), the Museum will be open seven days a week instead of closing on Mondays. Come journey through the new national museum in downtown Winnipeg on any day of the week. Experience a combination of amazing interactions with the Museum’s symbolic architecture and its well-researched content, communicated through the latest technologies, oldest forms of storytelling and timeless power of art. Hundreds of personal experiences, relaying the importance of human rights for all, are on display.

Information and services at the Museum are readily available and easily accessible in both French and English; visits can be experienced in either of Canada’s official languages.

Before you arrive, check www.humanrights.ca for admission rates and details about daily tour and program offerings. Whether you’re looking for information about “Explore the Galleries” or one of our other tours, or special activities being done for events such as Asian History Month, you’ll find layers of information on the site.

Be sure to check out the Boutique on Level 1. It offers an eclectic, ever-changing array of socially-conscious giftware. And, all proceeds support the Museum.

Then, stop in at ERA Bistro, also open for extended hours on Wednesdays during the summer,  to gather with friends for good food, sharing and reflection.

Make an upcoming Wednesday evening your human rights night by visiting the CMHR.

(Please note the Museum will be closed the evenings of Wednesday April 22, April 29, May 27 and Oct. 7 to accommodate pre-booked private events.)
