Project Prehistoric Predator

UPDATE: And the WINNER is… Dinosaur News by Sydney McCallum! The news has never been so fun and interesting. Thank you to everyone who participated and sent in videos. We hope you can get out to Morden this summer to see all the cool fossils at the CFDC.

THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED.

Project Prehistoric Predator is 80 million years in the making… it’s just waiting for you to film it! With Jurassic World opening soon, and the Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre gearing up for another fantastic summer of fossil digs, it’s the perfect time to unearth your creative nature and make your own prehistoric predator movie!

Whether you film a Jurassic-style movie trailer, go on a fossil finding mission, direct a forbidden love story between a mosasaur and a xiphactinus, or simply record your kids trying to pronounce the real names of prehistoric creatures (it’s hilarious, believe us), we want you to show us your passion for the prehistoric…in moving form.

The prize

The person with the most EPIC video will WIN the ULTIMATE paleontologist-wannabe prize:

  • Full-day authentic fossil dig adventure excavating 80 million year old fossils with the CFDC! (Did we mention the winner gets to bring SIX people along?! That’s the perfect prehistoric party, if you ask us.)
  • 2 tickets to the premiere of Jurassic World in Winnipeg on Wednesday, June 10. (Movie comes with mosasaur hijinks)
  • $100 worth of Cineplex gift certificates to watch Jurassic World on the big screen again and again. RAWR!

Prize value is approximately $700.

How to submit

Project Prehistoric Predator is free for anyone to enter and there is no limit to the amount of videos you can submit. Your video must contain original footage (or officially licensed for use), should not exceed three (3) minutes, and be “approved for all audiences.” Share your movies with us by:

  • Posting them on our Facebook page,
  • Tweeting or Instagramming them out using the hashtag #ProjectPrehistoricPredator, OR
  • Posting your video links in the comments section below.

Deadline

Submissions must be entered no later than June 8, 2015.

The winning movie will be judged based on originality, style, creativity and, of course, EPICNESS. We will announce a winner June 9, 2015 here on our blog and on our social channels (Facebook, Twitter).

No employees or immediate family members of employees of Travel Manitoba or Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre are eligible to win.
