8 scrumptious spots for sweets on Valentine’s Day 💝

I’ll just say it. I love chocolate. You love chocolate. We should all love chocolate! Chocolate can be enjoyed in many delicious forms (even body wrap, but I’m not sure if that’s actually edible) and it’s a surefire way to any rational person’s heart. Which is why on Valentine’s Day, I suggest taking that special person in your life (also known as your significant other, or more recently, bae) to one of these 8 scrumptious spots in Manitoba where chocolate is most definitely on the menu.

Chocolatier Constance Popp

Winnipeg

Chocolatier Constance Popp is one of the most notorious sweet shops in Manitoba, and for good reason. On my morning commute to work down Provencher, I often gaze at this cute little shop from afar and wonder why chocolate is not a more acceptable breakfast food. This Valentine’s Day, take your special someone to the shop and enjoy a slice of chocolate cake in the sitting area or buy some chocolate hearts to go.

Le Beau Cafe and Fudgerie

Beausejour

I’m not sure if fudgerie is a word, but I fully support adding it to the dictionary. While Le Beau Cafe and Fudgerie is not open on the weekend (and Valentine’s Day falls on a Sunday this year), it is the perfect spot to swing by to grab some freshly made desserts prior to the big day. As you may have already guessed, this Beausejour treasure specializes in fudge, but also features a delicious lunch menu, wine tastings and more.

Mordens’ of Winnipeg

Winnipeg

Mordens’ is one of the best spots for chocolate in the city, with an impressive history to boot. Founded in 1959, the business started with only a scale, a kettle and two marble slabs. Today, it is a Winnipeg staple and has remained at the same location in the West End for over 50 years. If you haven’t done so already, impress your date with their world famous Russian Mints!

Dessert Sinsations

Winnipeg

With over 18 years in the business, Dessert Sinsations is well attuned to the art of dessert, and it shows. This full service restaurant is located in downtown Winnipeg, serving up fresh fare for every meal of the day – including open hours for late night snackers. If you don’t prefer chocolate (which in my opinion, is a ridiculous notion), try the green tea or passion fruit cheesecake.

Inferno’s Bistro

Winnipeg

This romantic french restaurant in St. Boniface is an excellent choice for your Valentine’s Day, serving up delicious entrees and dessert. The dessert case may seem cruel, but rest assure that no matter what you end up selecting, you won’t be disappointed. This year, Inferno’s Bistro is hosting a special Chef’s Dinner, so make your reservations head of time.

ChocoBerry Dessert House

Winnipeg

ChocoBerry Dessert House is a relatively new spot to Osborne Village, and a welcome one. This quaint dessert house features unique ways to serve its creations, including chocolate syringes and adorable cups. Shareable plates like a mini campfire or a chocolate fondue smorgasbord make ChocoBerry one of the best spots for a romantic and memorable Valentine’s Day date. And FYI – the waffles are to die for.

Forbidden Flavours

Brandon

Visiting Forbidden Flavours means making a difficult decision: chocolate cake, specialty coffee or their famous hot chocolate. I’ll take anything involving Oreos. While this eatery originates in Brandon, there are also locations in Shilo, Souris and Rivers – so no matter where your next road trip takes you, be sure to stop in!

Lecoka Cafe House

Steinbach

If you like your chocolate cake to be accompanied by a freshly brewed coffee, Locoka Cafe House is your new go-to place. The eclectic interior is a cozy and interesting space to relax in, and the fruit juices are to die for. Owned by a couple from Ecuador, Lecoka Cafe House is a truly unique addition for Steinbach’s restaurant scene!
